In the run up to the UCLan and Ri Young Scientist Centre (YSC) official opening we asked people to share their memories from school science. The two most popular were the Screaming Jelly Baby and the Van der Graff generator. We could only pick one, so during the YSC launch we got out our trusty generator and demonstrated it with a group of local primary school students.
During the event UCLan staff and students also performed their best science demos and competed to be the names the first ever winner of the UCLan and Ri YSC BestDemo Competition. The audience (local primary school students) voted for the winners were presented with their award by the Minister of State for School Reform, Nick Gibb MP. Watch the winning demo from Tracy Bradford and Steve Harris below.
