In Certain Places Project Space opportunity

icpIn Certain Places occupy a small, informal building on the university campus which they would like to open up for artists – particularly those whose work explores aspects of ‘place’ – to use as part of the Hannah Directory 2015-16 launch celebrations on Monday 8 to Sunday 14 June 2015.

They can offer artists a temporary work space close to the University’s creative hub, with access, by arrangement, to some of its facilities. This will hopefully allow artists space in which to test their ideas and to experiment with the presentation of their work (including installation and time-based media) and to mount small scale exhibitions for which they can offer curatorial support and assistance with installation.

Although they are unable to offer a fee or expenses, they do have the facility to promote artists’ work via their database of contacts and they can publicise and host events and exhibitions for small audiences, providing refreshments and publicity material.  In Certain Places would also welcome artists who might wish to give short presentations on their work and their research.

In Certain Places is an ongoing programme of interventions and events based in the School of Art, Design and Performance at the University of Central Lancashire.Based in Preston, the project examines how artists can contribute to the form and functions of a place, by exploring new approaches to art, culture and urban development.

Should you wish to apply, please send an email request, outlining your practice and how you would like to use the space in no more than 250 words, to Elaine Speight
